The Special Education Department of Danville District #118 ensures that a free appropriate public education is available to each student, identified with a disability, who is between the ages of 3 and 21. These services are provided to students who require special education and related services to address the adverse effects of their disability on their progress in the regular education curriculum.

Special education and related services are provided according to the student's individualized education program (IEP) and is based on the student's unique needs. This IEP is developed and reviewed annually by a team, which includes parents and school personnel.

All special education programs are monitored by the Illinois State Board of Education on a regular basis to ensure that the district is in compliance with all state and federal requirements. To learn more about specific policies and procedures for identification, placement, and the provision of services to students with disabilities, refer to the ISBE web site: www.isbe.state.il.
